The application of solar control film will subject the glass and glazing system to additional heat loads when exposed to sunlight.

The window film industry publishes a set of guidelines which are intended to minimize the risk
of thermal shock or seal failure.

Because thermal windows can fail even when
no window film is installed, Concord does not
offer a seal failure or glass breakage warranty.

If your particular application requires this coverage,
you will have to consult a professional installer.  Their price schedule will include glass breakage
coverage.  Be sure to enquire about any deductibles, or maximum amount of coverage per window unit.  Make sure that the particular film you have chosen is covered by the thermal unit warranty.

GUIDELINES FOR THERMAL PANE WINDOWS:

• Do not install film on any double pane (thermal insulated) window larger than 40 square feet in size.

• Except for Silver Reflective Films, do not install any film darker than 35% on a thermal pane unit.  All Silver films are OK because they reflect (rather than absorb) heat.

• If your windows are single pane, you may choose any film you wish, as long as the window is less than 100 square feet in size.  Do not install any film if the glass is larger.

• Do not do a "partial installation" on any single window.  Tint the entire window, or not at all.  If you do, the uneven heating can cause the window to crack.
