Heat Control Window Film Reflective Silver Series Neutral Residential Series Window films contain micro-thin layers of metal, which serve as infra-red (heat) reflectors. These layers are so thin that they remain transparent as they block heat. Because visible light is very close to infra-red in the electromagnetic spectrum, films which are the most reflective also block the most heat. The familiar Silver Reflective Series films are the most efficient heat blockers. These are the most common films worldwide because of their ability to block up to 79% of the solar heat. The only drawback of these top-performing films is the reflective appearance, which some customers want to avoid if possible. Silver Reflective Series: |

If your objective is to reduce solar heat while avoiding the "reflective mirror-like" appearance, Concord Neutral Residential films are your best choice. These films contain the micro thin layers of metal, but they are situated behind a layer of lightly tinted polyester, which reduces the surface reflectivity. Performance is slightly less than the Silver Films, but the reflective look is avoided. |

What about
wintertime? The films are infra-red reflectors, so you will lose some of the free solar heat coming in during winter. At the same time, the films are able to reflect some of the heating system energy back into the living space, which makes up for some of this loss. When year-round energy savings are considered, window films save money. That is why they are Energy-Star approved! |
